Kū is one of the four Hawaiian gods. This particular design represents Kūka’ilimoku, who embodied warrior traits and was known to be the ‘snatcher of the islands.’ Kū was an important figure to King Kamehameha I, as he represented unity and strength, a much-needed symbol and reminder during the unification of the Hawaiian archipelago.
